Mr. Stephen Chapel has managed several highly successful projects for the Utility industry. He has expert knowledge of the utility business analysis methods combined with proven problem solving and analytical capabilities. He is well known for his ability to take projects from the conceptual stage to a practical implementation that has aided numerous utilities make better investment and operational decisions. Besides several journal articles and white papers he is also a co-author (with Mukund Thapa) of a soon to be published book on programming using C and C++ Pointers.


 
 

 
 
Dr. Mukund N. Thapa, President, Stanford Business Software, Inc.; Consulting Professor, Stanford University
 
 


Dr. Thapa has been developing custom numerically robust, computationally efficient software for analytical models for over 20 years. He holds a consulting faculty appointment at the Department of EESOR, Stanford University and has co-authored books on linear programming (with George Dantzig) and soon to be published book on C pointers (with Steve Chapel). His areas of expertise include: mathematical programming, numerical algorithms, and GUIs



 
 
 
 
 
Dr. Jonathan A. Lesser, President, New England Economics Group, LLC

 
 

Dr. Lesser has over twenty years’ experience in the energy industry working for utilities, industry, and government. Dr. Lesser also frequently serves as an expert witness on regulated cost of capital, the prudence of utility capital investments, and valuation of electric generating assets. Dr. Lesser is widely published in both the academic and trade press, and is the author of Environmental Economics and Policy. His areas of expertise include economic, econometric, and statistical analysis, decision analysis and stochastic modeling for capital investments, risk management and strategy development, and benefit-cost analysis.

 
 

 
 

Peter A. Morris, VMN Group LLC and Consulting Professor, Stanford University

 
 

Dr. Morris has over 25 years experience in the research, teaching and application of decision analysis and quantitative modeling. Since 1971, he has held a part-time appointment as professor in the Department of Engineering-Economic Systems and Operations Research at Stanford University where he teaches the art of mathematical modeling and probabilistic systems. His areas of expertise include decision and risk analysis, real option valuation, probabilistic analysis and mathematical modeling.

 
 
 
 
 

Dr. Charles D. Feinstein, Professor, Santa Clara University and VMN Group LLC

 
 

Dr. Charles D. Feinstein is a member of the faculty at Santa Clara University (OMIS) and Stanford University (EESOR). His main academic interests are optimization, investment decision theory and practice, applied mathematics, and mathematical modeling. He has published papers and monographs on various aspects of electric utility investment planning, with particular attention to distribution systems and distributed resources.

 
 

 
 
Lee Merkhofer, Lee Merkhofer Consulting
 
 

Dr. Miley W. (Lee) Merkhofer specializes in providing commercial and government clients systems for prioritizing projects and optimally allocating resources. He has developed dozens of priority systems, taught courses on the subject, and received professional awards for his work in the area. He is the author of the book Decision Science and Social Risk Management (Reidel Publishing Co.) and coauthor of the book Risk Assessment Methods (with V. Covello, Plenum Press). Dr. Merkhofer received a B.S. degree in Physics, an M.S. in Electrical Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Engineering Economic Systems, all from Stanford University.
